"By and large, farmers are decent, honest, hardworking people, who want to do right by future generations. With progressive, visionary leadership they could be nature and climate champions." But that leadership is absent. My piece in today's @IrishTimes https://t.co/Bm4oRKK7l3

“If it is going to change things, it has to change them well. We’ve heard enough from people who clearly don’t know what they’re doing in RTÉ. It’s time to listen to the people – the creative people – who do,” @UnaMullally @irishtimes [€]

“I don’t think any of us at RTÉ have any boasting left in us after the last few weeks. But I am still, after everything, proud of the work we do and the contribution we make to public service broadcasting,” Kevin Brew @irishtimes

“Tubridy repeated over and over on Tuesday that he wants to go back to that ‘great old place’. He wants to be part of the catharsis. He may come to regret hitching his wagon to Noel Kelly’s,” ⁦@jenoconnell⁩ ⁦@IrishTimes

“Two weeks into the RTÉ crisis over secret payments, the organisation is still faffing about looking for the first aid kit. With every day it is spinning further out of control in a catastrophic doom loop of damning revelations,” @jenoconnell @irishtimes

Does it really matter if Doireann Garrihy eats her #sponsored porridge in an RTÉ studio or Marty Morrissey has a borrowed car? The short answer is yes

Justine McCarthy: The next time committee members make snide remarks about RTÉ managers taking the “hubby” on foreign trips, they might stop and think that, if they had done their job in the first place, matters might not have reached this sorry pass. https://t.co/r5Q4bqNigZ

What do university performance rankings really mean? And should Ireland be chasing them at all? Interesting explainer on what those sought-after university rankings show us

"We just need to zoom out. The greatest marketing win in Ireland in recent years was the Wild Atlantic Way. Nobody built anything, it was just about connecting the dots" - @UnaMullally has a big idea for Dublin's O'Connell Street

Consider the success of our Wild Atlantic Way. Nobody built anything, it was just about connecting the dots. We need to do the same for the capital

Great points here by @jenoconnell. People constantly spin the need for more hotels as a binary choice (more hotels = less housing/art)…until they need to book a room and are shocked by the price. These things should run hand in hand with a bit of vision and strategy.

Dublin hotel prices in “the realms of the utterly fantastical,” writes @jenoconnell@IrishTimes⁩, adding “That’s where they seem to have been hovering in a semi-permanent state of suspension for some time now.”
