recently came across this sick brand Carte Blanche being built by
@LeidenfrostL
&
@Adam_Wilbanks
- sick graphics + aesthetic. long story short, signed up to their emails and they don't do the brand justice. here's a redesign of the emails that align better w their branding (imo)
Someone asked for design feedback on a mock-up email, thought i would go through it in detail in a loom.
First time doing it in this format, let me know if it helps at all! 🫡
work i did for a client a while back! lots of things i would fix with the knowledge i have now- might have to do an before & after update 🤔
& saw
@jsappington
format his work this way and i looove it
Top 3 design essentials that make your emails go from looking cheap to expensive! This will increase the perceived value of your product/ brand and convince customers that it is worth the price tag.
A question I get a lot is "Where do you get your inspo from?"
TLDR: ReallyGoodEmails, Milled, Behance, Pinterest, sign up to A LOT of email lists & my environment

Breaking down a mockup design that
@Haseebbarif
sent over & here's what I would've done differently design wise!
Kept all content the same for easy comparison.
DMs are always open 😇
consistency is key when developing any skill so just show up and do the work everyday.
don't just do it a couple times and expect to be good - it takes lot of practice, time & patience
Diversify your campaign content
80% value, 20% sales
Amongst your hard sell emails, you should also be sending value packed emails eg. education, tips, advice, blogs [helping them, not just selling]
& make them fun!!!
bigger agency ≠ better work
most of the time , you’re just another client to them getting handed off to juniors who have no clue what they’re doing. nothing beats a boutique experience w people who actually care
experienced the biggest burn out a couple of weeks ago - lost all creative energy, felt so unmotivated and could not produce anything i was happy with
took a few days off to rest and clear my mind.
now back to work, feeling better than ever 💆♀️
Toughest thing about being a perfectionist is efficiency.
Design is endless- there are always improvements that you can make but a promise that I have to my clients (& myself) is that I will never put out *average*. Working hard to be more efficient while maintaining quality 📝

How to design emails that match the brand?
Deep dive into the brand BEYOND what they give you (usually brand guide). Study the brand across all socials, website, anything you can get your hands on. Pick up on graphic styles + elements they've used.
I truly believe honesty is the best policy. If I can’t help a client get to where they want to be due to where their business is at, I’ll let them know & keep the door open for the future. 9/10 will really appreciate your honesty. Operate with integrity and the money will follow
Question I get a lot - how to be more creative
No simple answer to this. Creativity is something developed over time and cannot really be taught. The way I think about it is if you expose yourself to a lot of creative work, your mind will be more open to what is possible. (1/2)
holy fk last post blew up 😳 hello and thank u for all of the love!!! appreciate it heaps, my DMs are always open for a chat, advice or just general shit talk 🤍
Onboarded a brand a couple months ago with HUGE deliverability issues - which became our first priority to fix.
Less than 2 months later this is where we currently stand across some of our core flows.
If you’re hiring a designer, here are the key traits you should look out for. 🔍
– Reliability; timeliness + takes accountability for their work
– Flexibility; willing to adapt, occasional short turnaround times etc.

“For that price, I can just hire someone in house”
yes technically true, but for that price, you’re getting a team - a team of people that specialise in different areas of work. A strategist, copy writer, designer.
Ever since then, I’ve never applied for another agency and that was the day I decided I’ll do it myself.
& to the agency owner, thank u for not hiring me 🫡
The texts I love to wake up to 😭
Been with this client for just over 15 months now. Client retention and client satisfaction is at the forefront of everyyyything we do
some client work recently! will be sharing some of our designs + valuable threads on design soon! Also, if anyone knows how to upload gifs to twitter without getting rejected pls lmk 🥲
some of these agencies are whack 💀
FB ad agencies your word is worth everything, stop vouching for these people who take 1+ month to put in draft templated flows with Loren ipsum still there
Jumped on call with
@derrickstruggle
this morning & wowww
Main takeaway was -
Other people’s experiences will not be the same as yours. Experience it for yourself and let your reality shape your beliefs.
You don’t really know until you try
get a lot of messages asking how to get started in email marketing. there are so many resources right now at your fingertips, all you have to do is use it 🫵🤨
Ideation
Drawing inspiration from everyday things. Broaden your perspectives, be open to being influenced. This is how I think of creative campaigns that stand out from the rest
Visualisation
Find the most effective way to convey your message. This will depend on what you want the takeaway of the email to be.
eg. benefits / features I find are best conveyed through icons + simplified text
Don’t promise them the world knowing you can’t deliver.
A tale as old as time… lying about results or selling potential clients a dream just to sign them. You sign them & then what? You can’t deliver what was promised and get dropped? good if u like to churn through clients
Steal from the great
If you see something you like, understand WHY you like it and what exactly makes it attractive to the eye. Is it the composition of the email? The way they’ve structured photos? apply the same principals into your work and make it even better
Constructive criticism
Always seek feedback. Surrounding yourself with people who aren’t afraid to challenge your ideas or provide feedback will allow you to push the boundaries of what is possible… and that is when the magic happens.
Having broader thinking & perspective means ideas will come easier and you’ll learn how to quickly come up with different concepts.
This applies for beyond emails. (2/2)
For example, a client running BOGO sale. I was out and saw a claw machine. Made the connection between the two and thought it would be a cool gif concept - 1 claw grab but win 2 prizes = BOGO.

MASTER THE SERVICE YOUR PROVIDING… the money will follow.
Client acquisition should be the least of your worries when your just starting out… perfect your craft first.
It’s a waste of time if you are spending hours doing outreach but ur product/ service sucks
When I was first starting out and getting into digital marketing, I applied for a role at an agency considered one the top agencies in my city. At the interview, they said where do you see yourself in 5 years. I told them I would ideally be running my own agency.
@theibrahimet
Average is ~1% but can see higher or lower depending on segmentation as well as subject line framing.
eg. the mystery box email sees >1.5% as we run with the element of “testing your luck” in subject line + in content
@AceCopy_
learnt the basics from any resources that i could get my hands on, reached out to a very small boutique brand & landed my first client and learnt on the job - google was my best friend during this time haha
