Spot-on review by @profrhodrilewis of Chernow's frustrating Twain, chocked with facts, lacking analysis\. My upcoming cultural history of the Linotype, Hot Type, has more literary examination of Twain's work than this. "Chernow loses the signal while amplifying the noise.".
In which, for @prospect_uk, I am frustrated and ultimately a bit annoyed by Ron Chernow's new doorstopper on Mark Twain.

Joe tries to say this is a partnership between DC and the feds. @Jheil has the gumption to tell Joe it's not a partnership, it's a takeover.

For the third morning this week, Joe quotes unnamed Democrats (the Scarborough equivalent of the people who call Trump "Sir") saying that "if there's not overreach" the fascist takeover of Washington's streets is "just fine."
A day off didn't calm Joe down. He's back this morning, ranting about crime in DC, trying to argue this isn't about race, and thinking a fascist takeover of the nation's capital is just ducky.

Compare this perspective from history by Putnam and Reeves to the macho, incel BS of Galloway, Peterson, Rogan, et al. Witness Arendt, too; I fear the Trump Jugend recruits feeding ICE. Gift link:.Boy Crisis of 2025, Meet the ‘Boy Problem’ of the 1900s
