🚨There is now a "spOccupancy and spAbundance users" mailing list! This will be the primary place to ask questions on using the two R packages going forward. If you use the packages I encourage you to join the group! https://t.co/aEJuvtx159

Had such a great time talking about hierarchical spatial occupancy and abundance models at @Vogelwarte_scie last week in Switzerland with an amazing group of researchers! All workshop lectures and exercises are freely available on GitHub: https://t.co/e3iPUez3Ji.

New paper out now in @ESAEcology! 😍 A multispecies hierarchical model to integrate count and distance-sampling data Multiple species, multiple datasets, and ONE model to bind them! This was a challenging project & I learned a ton https://t.co/dIHIXuJjSY

Super fun application of spAbundance! Thanks for sharing @javi_ferlop!
spAbundance package (by @jeffdoser18 @ZipkinLab) is already published at @MethodsEcolEvol! It fits a wide variety of single/multispecies abundance models using MCMC and Bayesian Inference allowing also for hierarchical frameworks. Let me show you a funny example 🧵👇(1/6) #rstats

Can we stop looking at histograms of animal diel activity and trusting our gut to classify species diel behavior (e.g., nocturnal)? Yes! Out today in @AnimalEcology we present a research methods guide for the Diel.Niche R package! #openaccess #rstats 1/7 https://t.co/dJh61JUoRw

Interested in single-visit occupancy models? Check out our new paper for some insights on how reliable model estimates are under a variety of simulation scenarios
Can fractional replication (borrowing strength across space and time) replace true replication (multiple visits) in species distribution models? What about model mis-specification? @jeffdoser18 and I investigate in our new @MethodsEcolEvol paper.

We estimated that birders spent roughly *half a million dollars* to look for the wayward Steller's Sea-Eagle over only a couple of months! 👀 Very fun paper that represents a collision of worlds between my research life and my birding life!!
Yesterday, our paper on the Steller's Sea Eagle's journey in North America and the economic impact it had was published in @PaN_BES. This was the most fun I have had on a project, and full credit to this goes to coauthors: @n_a_gilbert, @WR_Casola, and @KofiAkamani
