As a young boy, I watched in awe at men sliding bikes sideways around Brandon, wheel to wheel at high speed. I was hooked. Over decades I formed lifelong friendships, witnessed magical nights & special memories. Then developers came along. We’re fighting for youngsters of today🐝

59 yrs ago as a young boy, I cycled 8 miles from home to Brandon. I leaned my bike against the fence & stood on the seat to peer into the stadium. I remember seeing Kazim Bentke working on his bike. Today, like every day, I’m here for a different reason.

Two years ago the fans lined the track to salute ‘Dads Army’ as Peterborough were crowned champions. This evening they line the track mourning the closure of the Showground and their beloved Panthers. Another track closer by developers. It’s so sad. So emotional. So wrong.

It’s still there. The developers suffered a severe blow when an Independent Consultant’s report concluded they had failed to prove it was surplus & had NOT complied with Gov’t Planning Guidelines We are 100% confident we can reinstate the iconic stadium to its former glory.🐝🐝🐝

We are aware the stadium is on fire and are told there are 4 fire engines including a turntable ladder in attendance. They can burn the grandstand to the ground but the fact remains, Brandon is the best site for speedway to return. WE CAN REINSTATE IT.

After a meeting with Rugby Council yesterday, I called into Brandon. The iconic stadium is still there, albeit badly vandalised as a result of the developers failure to secure it. Could we reinstate it - you bet we could. Its definitely do-able.

14 months after losing my best friend, last weekend we adopted another rescue dog. She’s a troubled 2yr old, terrified of everything & craves human affection. She’s frightened to come into the house, to go from room to room to go for a walk. We’ll take things steady. She’ll be ok

I was alerted by local residents at 7.00pm of another fire at Brandon. I was there at 7.30 and have 70 or 80 pictures. It was the worst of all fires. 8 appliances, incident unit, police, road closure. Heartbreaking. The stadium as always was wide open. Thank you Brandon Estates.

Last month we were very grateful to the Councillors who constitute the Planning Committee. We now thank all the Councillors who supported the motion last night. They have recognized just how much Brandon Stadium means to people, including the supportive local community. 🐝🐝
