Yesterday I had the chance to give an Avalanche 101 session at the @odtublockchain event. Less speculation. More consensus mechanics, sovereign L1s, custom VMs and real interoperability. Huge shout-outs to @koaservatt, @snowofkila and @AvaxTeam1 for organizing Team1 Uni Tour.

Problem: Avalanche EVM chains rely on a block gas cost mechanism that lacks an explicit minimum block delay, requires upgrades for changes, and only supports second-level granularity. 💡If we can replace this mechanism with a dynamic minimum block delay set by validators, then

Just to remind that this was not an "on-chain" issue and did not affect the whole Ethereum network (different client implementations are unaffected). Huge shout-out to @go_ethereum and @0xPolygon teams to find the issue and put up a fix quickly.

CVE TLDR: The issue can cause vulnerable nodes to panic or shut down when receiving a crafted p2p message. While detailed information has not yet been published, we believe the root cause of the issue is a missing curve validation in secp256k1 public key parse function.
