You know that project you've been meaning to get to for months? It's a thorn in your side, but more urgent stuff keeps coming up... I can take that off your plate π½οΈ I'm looking to work w/ one more client for the spring. Send me a dm & we can talk about what that'd look like.

My productivity goes to die in a busy browser window. However, I've developed some keyboard-centric Vimium flows that have completely changed how I get things done in the browser. So excited to share those workflows in my *first* ever @eggheadio course. https://t.co/A77pHD5Tdu

Losing focus and getting lost while looking for that browser tab from earlier is a drag on getting things done. Even minor slow-downs in how you navigat...

Connect to the Production Rails Console on AWS / Flightcontrol https://t.co/lys7ZwvYdY

Without Heroku-like ergonomics, we have to find our own way to connect to a production rails console deployed to AWS via Flightcontrol.

Rails on @Flightcontrolhq (AWS) has been great, but I miss how easy the Heroku CLI made some things. Connecting to the prod Rails console takes a bit of figuring out and several steps -- I wrote it all up in my latest post.

I'm comparing some Heroku alternatives for deploying and hosting Rails apps. I just gave @Flightcontrolhq a shot and so far the experience has been slick af. Nice work @flybayer and team π

it feels aggressive that the default for a Rails 8 app is to set you up with *4* separate production databases

I love helping clients with complex, sometimes gnarly DB issues: - Efficiently deleting hundreds of millions of old, unneeded records - Figuring out the composite index needed to take a query from 30s to 30ms - int to bigint primary key migration on massive table w/ zero downtime

I'm always happy to jump on a call to talk about how I can partner with your business. You can also get a feel for VisualMode (my consulting business) and what clients have had to say here:

Ruby Operator pages now have OpenGraph metadata.

The flip flop operator (flipfloperator) is a special form of conditional syntax. The syntax looks like the range feature but is distinct syntax that behaves differently.

Check it out --> https://t.co/qMXeB6sy7w I've been hacking on this since Monday. It's still very much a WIP, good enough to launch for now. Let me know if you see any glaring errors or omissions.

The Ruby language and community have given me so much, so I thought I'd give a little something back as #RubyConf wraps. Introducing Ruby Operator Lookup! A one-stop directory for all the operators and symbols you'll see in Ruby programs. There are sooo many π

Just dug up this old post about some other weird Ruby syntax https://t.co/QN3aE5X0zy
Ruby has some pretty obscure syntax and operators that allow you to write nonsense like this. - percent notation: %(some str) => "some str" - question mark operator: ?a => "a" - calling methods without parens

when I say 'Percent Notation', I'm talking about this sort of thing 1,2: you can delimit strings with just about any other character, even a space character 3: you can write some gnarly, obfuscated code with it https://t.co/eVushNFgeE

Whatβs the weirdest Ruby operator or special character syntax? Iβm between the variations of heredoc syntax (<<, <<-, <<~) and percent notation (alternative string quoting).
