Jazz is an open-source DB that runs right in your frontend, containers and workers — with auth, permissions, files, multiplayer, E2EE & more.

@anselm_io . @pranaygp’s video on the Workflow DevKit is out now! Learn about the DX of workflows and how they make multi-step backend tasks & agentic loops so much easier. And see the thread above for how Jazz can drive workflows as one of the open-source Workflow DevKit “Worlds”
My talk about @WorkflowDevKit is out! https://t.co/pMMrwqPpqE

Often, the first reaction to Jazz is "oh this looks like I can finally build the side-project I've been putting off" And our Discord is now full of folks launching their side-projects! In this spirit, we're very proud to sponsor this event. Come by, work, chill & make friends!
The best things start as side-projects. Have a new idea? Or one you've been working on for years? A glimmer of curiosity - or a thing you're spending your entire shower-thought budget on? Make progress and friends at our first ever Side-Project Party! https://t.co/GOY9BQPLnS

the fun thing about being open-source is that you get drive-by PRs by typescript gods https://t.co/7xxMJlSIXx

One of the key aspects of Jazz is that you can granularly choose which data to load & sync locally. This is very powerful, but a bit surprising at first. 0.19.0 is a significant DX upgrade that makes loaded vs unloaded data much clearer on a type level. https://t.co/4tDj3XKSbh

our average experience with indie devs who use Jazz is that they just show up one day with a perfectly polished app that they’ve built in no time and with no help the first couple times we thought it was a fluke congrats to @needim for launching his personal finance app!

. @fosdem is doing a local-first/sync-engine/CRDT devroom this year @evoluhq @inkandswitch @loro_dev @livestoredev wanna apply for a shared table together? Any other open source libs we should tag?

the @localfirstfm landscape needs a category for file support. eg @jazz_tools has first class support for images and files which is a huge lever for me.

yes yes yes! @tillydotsocial is that btw. and @jazz_tools makes it so easy to start and progress up to real time sync across devices and collaboration
Building a local-first offline-only complex app day 14: browsers are awesome. - localStorage to persist data across sessions. - sessionStorage to persist data across reloads. - window.cache to store binary assets. - Service Worker to serve assets from cache.

We want to replace Durable Objects with Jazz by giving you DO-like persistence that works on any compute (and is more flexible & cheaper) Still, you can already run Jazz *on* DOs, but now it persists directly to their SQLite, thanks to @Nipsuli! “There’s no one way to Jazz” 🎷
Another open source contribution I’ve recently done was to @jazz_tools I use Jazz heavily with @Cloudflare durable objects and wanted to make them snappier by utilizing the SQL storage on them instead of always loading data over internet

Our "build an app that syncs" happy hour is happening tonight! Whether you've just heard of us yapping about @jazz_tools at NextJS & Ship AI conf, or are one of our die-hard long time adopters, drop by for a sneak-peek of even more places and ways you can use Jazz!
In SF for @nextjs Conf or Ship AI Conf? Interested in building apps that sync across devices, work offline, have real-time collab or just need to be super fast? Come hang out on Friday and learn about Jazz! Snacks, drinks and mini-electronics on us! https://t.co/EpTGmbvfWY

"use workflow" shipped on day 0 with 4 adapters: - postgres - vercel - local dev - @jazz_tools The latter is the first one built outside of Vercel. Similar adapters could be built for Inngest, Upstash, SQS/Dynamo/Lambda, etc.
So proud that @jazz_tools is a launch backend that you can use in @vercel’s new Workflow DevKit. Durable workflows are arguably the compute abstraction of the decade - the best DX for persistence/queues is one that fully disappears. Jazz is uniquely suited to power workflows…
