Many of the PERM certifications we’re receiving right now were filed in May 2024 (including some from early May). We are also starting to see certifications of cases filed in June 2024. Processing times appear to be trending below 15 months. For reference, the longest wait this.

DOJ now lets the public report employers advertising “H-1B preferred” or favoring visa holders over U.S. workers. Employers: avoid risk—don’t preference visas, and in PERM, ensure U.S. applicants are promptly contacted, fairly assessed against minimum requirements, and only

USCIS has issued new policy guidance on false claims to U.S. citizenship and unlawful voting in the naturalization context. The agency makes clear that anyone who falsely claims to be a U.S. citizen—such as during voter registration—or who votes unlawfully will generally be

Starting October 2025, USCIS will have armed special agents with full law enforcement powers—investigating, arresting, executing warrants, and using force under 1811 authority. USCIS is moving from service to surveillance.

As resources open and with less use of positive discretion, expect more and faster transfers of potential cases from USCIS to removal proceedings (e.g. change-of-status / extension denials).

Sample I-601A processing time: Filed 08/11/2023, approved 08/22/2025 — just over 2 years. That’s a full year faster than what we were seeing earlier this year. Encouraging sign. #I601A #I601

Got slotted as #1 for the very first time—7:15am at USCIS Baltimore. Barely any wait, officer in good spirits. Only downside: the early wake-up.

For those fortunate enough to receive their C09 EADs (tied to a pending I-485) quickly, check the card carefully—some include an I-512 endorsement at the bottom. That means Advance Parole is also approved, and the card can be used for travel even if case tracking still shows the.

C09 EAD processing continues to move quickly. A recent example: I-485 (US citizen filing for a parent) was filed on 07/07/2025, biometrics completed on 08/06/2025, and the EAD was approved on 08/13/2025. From filing to receiving the approval notice took just over one month. #i485.

We’re seeing a troubling trend of wrongful H-1B rejections. Two in one week—both citing absurd reasons (missing pages, incomplete yes/no answers, no classification stated) that were untrue. Issued from different service centers. Human error, training gap, or system issue? #h1B.

Another unbelievable H-1B rejection story: Two cap-exempt extensions by a nonprofit filed in the same FedEx box—each in its own envelope with its own $460 check. Today, USCIS returned one check with a notice saying the fee was not required, treating two well-organized petitions.

USCIS continues to waive interviews for eligible cases, including I-485 green card applications filed by parents of U.S. citizens. However, the rate is noticeably lower than under the previous administration. #i485 #greencardinterview #familybasedimmigration.

For some reason, Google (and its related sites like YouTube & Google Store) thought our office was in Sicily—kept showing results in Italian. Clicking search results (e.g., FedEx) sent me to FedEx Italy, but typing the URL directly reached the US site. After hours of frustration.
