luckily alt social network protocols were developed. they took a giant step forwarded and open sourced their file storage + indexer. allowing anyone to run their own infra. it still required technical skills + the costs would steadily rise as the network grew. the question

I took one of my @chonksxyz, sent it some ETH, had it register on @opensea, and buy itself a @hexagons_art to use for its banner. It's holding the NFT in its "pack" - just like its traits. Token Bound Accounts (ERC-6551) are one of the best things to happen to NFTs.
