Some lingering ER visits and hospitalizations with respiratory infections - Covid-19 being the leading cause, still.

Here's a look at how Wake County voted in the presidential v governor race Trump won 234,000 votes in the county (36%), while Robinson won just 156,000 (24%)

Early votes finally in from Wilson County, putting Democrat Dante Pittman ahead...which would flip a net of one House seat to put Republicans one vote short of a supermajority -- with the Tricia Cotham race potentially in recount territory #ncpol

"We know the political climate in our country is tense. But North Carolinians proved throughout the early voting period that they can put that aside and participate peacefully in this election process." https://t.co/LsTzltxRCx

Bold prediction: Because so many people voted early, and because it was a more even R/D split than ever before, the leaders after the early batch of results are posted will hold all night for NC statewide races. Agree/Disagree?

Aside from the high-profile presidential and governor's races, at-stake in North Carolina is the Republican's supermajority in the state legislature. A handful of races could determine the balance of power in state government. One is in the Wilson area. https://t.co/Sr1NyTI84K

North Carolinians again split their tickets, electing Josh Stein, a Democrat, as governor, but choosing Republican Donald Trump for president.

Also saw a very slight uptick in ER visits with respiratory illness. Again, very slight. No need to go crazy, but something to just be aware of

We got a little bounce in the Covid wastewater metric last week. Still in the "moderate" range, but had dropped all the way to "low" last week. Wouldn't call this overly concerning, but something to be aware of, especially as we head toward holidays

I hope the people who cancelled their WaPo subscriptions are at least redirecting their money to other journalism outlets they value...if not, it's just gonna result in fewer reporters overall, and layoffs of people who have nothing to do with editorials/endorsements

NEWS: More than 200,000 subscribers have canceled their digital subscriptions to the Washington Post after the revelation that owner Jeff Bezos blocked an endorsement of VP Harris. That's about 8 percent of WaPo's subscriber base - a staggering sum MORE https://t.co/nCJhJrmlq0

Of course, please remember that "low" is not "zero." While hospitalizations are again down, there are still people with ER and hospital stays due to Covid, Flu, and other respiratory illnesses. Big picture, good to see these weekly numbers on the decline

Another week of declining Covid-19 and respiratory disease metrics. The wastewater metric is now "low" meaning the chance of coming in contact with the virus is low.
