Until recently I thought the Ad Grant was fairly useless for local nonprofits (including churches). But since December Performance Max campaigns can put ads onto Google Maps, and that's has changed my mind. I've seen some really good results when a location asset is added.

I see people talking about the Google Ad Grant a lot for churches, but I don't think it's the golden goose that people think it is. Unless you:.- Are in a metro area with enough search volume to make it worth it.- Have or can produce an appealing lead magnet for issues people.

This was a disappointing announcement. I hope at the very least Google clarifies to users that this is Search only. And I still hold out hope that one day P-Max in Ad Grants will enable the placement of your ads elsewhere than just Search: then it will be a truly useful tool.

Perhaps P-Max, even if it's still only Search ads, will be useful to some advertisers struggling to get impressions. Being keyword-less, it is at least a new approach. but we already have DSA to do that.

I hope Google fixes this immediately, before the sector gets completely confused. What message are nonprofits supposed to take from this? They will assume they have a powerful new tool, when in fact it's just the same old search ads in a new format.

Google has launched Performance Max ads for #GoogleAdGrants. This should be a good thing. But it's just going to cause confusion. The wording says it reaches audiences across all Google. But it doesn't: it's only Search ads. It even lets you upload video (which won't get shown).

Here's an update. I successfully reported abuse to the hosting company and the site's out of commission (until they get it up on new hosting). Thanks @Hostinger for taking it seriously and @CommunityBoost whichever hosting this fraudster relocates to, trying reporting abuse.

This does work well. Several of my clients use their Ad Grant to get petition signatures and it converts well. Exactly as shown, the next step is to gather email addresses and/or make a donation ask.

Sadly Ad Grant fraud is a thing. Wonder what this agency's game is. Domain is registered with SquareSpace and hosting with Hostinger so let's report the misuse. I just reached out to @CommunityBoost to warn them.

Negative Keywords in Google Ads now automatically prevent misspellings, so you don't have to add all possible variations of difficult-to-spell words. Having worked on Google Ad Grant accounts with keywords for Alzheimer's and leukaemia, this is a welcome announcement.

🎯 Today, we’re announcing updates for Search ads query matching and brand controls. 📈 *More search terms reported by aggregating misspellings* Misspelled queries are already matched to their correctly spelled keywords in your campaigns. But many of those misspellings don't.
