PSA: If you hear a tsunami warning for a 3ft wave and think “that’s cute, I’m going to stay put”, think again. The *speed* of the wave and its *debris* composition is also dangerous, in addition to the height.
On X, Masaki Nobushiro posts a recurring (and useful) drawing about how people wrongly think a 1m tsunami is a cresting wave when it's actually a wall of water filled with dangerous and deadly debris that's strong enough to sweep up a car.

That said, I’m grateful for how dead simple deploying PHP web apps was when I first started with web dev. Seeing my first dynamic web page up and running behind a domain name with very little server admin involved was magical.
If Ruby were the first language taught in a programming curriculum, I wonder if those students would ever put up with the “line noise” (heard the term from @dhh in the @lexfridman podcast) that other languages’ syntax force you to just accept as in-escapable reality. Thank.

I used to just fire off `rake release` to release new versions of our Ruby gem without a second thought. But after meeting the friendly engineers at @RubyCentralOrg who run the infra behind Ruby gems at @railsconf f2f, running `rake release` hits different now.

After the incredible time I had at @railsconf just booked my tickets to Amsterdam for @railsworld. Who else is going to Rails World 2025?.

If you’re familiar with what Rails and Laravel bring to the table, please go tell your JavaScript friends about @adonisframework so they too can experience the productivity gains of a batteries-included framework.

So many folks at @railsconf who I mentioned @typesense’s bootstrapped and revenue-funded journey to, suggested that I attend @MicroConf. I had heard of it before, but nothing like an in-person endorsement from multiple people. I’m now convinced I want to attend the next one.
