On Gaudete Sunday, Holy Mother Church interrupts the austerity of the Advent. Instead of the purple chasuble, the priest wears a pink chasuble, the deacon a dalmatic, the subdeacon a tunicella. There is joy in the liturgy: the Saviour with the riches of his grace is near!
