I don’t know if this statement will change anything, but I believe the people in this community, and the families who have supported the program, deserve to know the lack of transparency behind this decision.

It’s about more than just wins and losses; it’s about creating an environment where these young men can grow into responsible adults. Removing a coach who has built such a strong foundation for their future—without offering clear reasons for his dismissal—sends the wrong message.

This lack of objectivity only compounds the damage done to the program and its players. Ultimately, this is about the kids who have poured their hearts into this program, their families, and the community that’s supported them.

It’s important to note the athletic director that was apart of the decision to hire my dad is no longer there. The current leaders are individuals who may not fully understand the value of sports or who may have personal issues with my father’s coaching style.

The lack of explanation for this decision is troubling and seems to prioritize personal issues over the well-being of the players who many are counting on the structure and mentorship the program provides.

They gave no real reason that would constitute letting a coach go in a school where they value the contribution of the game of football.

However, the recent decision to remove my father in the middle of a successful program rebuild raises serious concerns about the disconnect between the school administration and its community.

it’s about developing responsible, hard-working individuals. This is a philosophy that the Spanish Fork and Mapleton communities have embraced, and I’m incredibly grateful for the support they’ve shown him and his staff.

My father’s coaching approach emphasizes accountability and character, helping young men not only excel on the field but also prepare for life after sports. His impact extends beyond just football;

Over the past two years, Maple Mountain High School has transformed from an average football team into one that is respected and consistently produces college caliber players—something that my brothers and I, who had been a part of the program for nearly a decade, had never seen.

While I understand that sports may not be the end-all, be-all, they play a significant role in shaping young people’s lives, offering opportunities and lessons that extend far beyond the field.

I don’t usually speak publicly, but given my family’s involvement in this situation, I feel it’s important to share my thoughts.
