as i understand it ‘April’ refers to the events in Italy in ’77, named after Maria Macchiocchi’s book. obviously very close to Emery’s later pamphlet ‘after Marx, jail’ — given the events of March that year, as well as April 1979 in Italy, the two terms are near-synonymous

Today marks the 40th anniversary of ‘the Battle of the Beanfield’ - a violent and somewhat forgotten moment in the history of British policing - a🧵
🧵 Stonehenge ‘85. Battle of the Bean Field. A year after crushing the miners, Thatcher turned her eye to the burgeoning counter-culture, mobilising 1300 police officers in an attempt to halt the counter-cultures most significant annual event- the Stonehenge Free festival.

Dave Stamp’s sub stack- exploring current class antagonism and grievance in bankrupt Birmingham seems the only project attempting to answer these sort of questions at present. Really worth a read if you have the time https://t.co/5OzdGKzmME

A totally excellent evening spent at Vinilificio vinyl studio for the launch of @dj_Balli’s ‘scrap vinyl’ mixtape. I haven’t laughed so much in a long long time - you really couldn’t make up how this evening ended

Social Centres - of the type discussed here- have little to do with the PCI- and everything to do with a rejection of their strategies (the maintenance of workplace discipline/compromise with the capitalist class) by younger worker militants during Italy’s tumultuous 1970s
As British cities are increasingly hollowed out by property developers, a tradition on the Italian left has seen the creation of ‘social centres’, where radical ways of being and thinking can take root. Can we replicate their success? https://t.co/YqYgbP5ya7

I came across this yesterday. He was sick, but he still went out of his way to take out the fascist trash.
UNREAL. It looks like the guy who tried to steal my signs at last week’s @TPUSA event is UC Davis English professor Joshua Clover. Clover is known for several tweets and comments he made in a 2015 interview with SF Weekly where he referenced violence against law enforcement
