We spoke to another patient that was on the unit at the same time as Cerys. Immy told us that observations by staff were so inconsistent the patients had to take it upon themselves to keep each other safe.

Today a coroner found that neglect likely contributed to her death and observation records done by staff were falsified. He said the care Cerys received was a “shambles”.

She went into Park House, a mental health unit in Manchester, in May 2022. It’s now been knocked down and a modern building has replaced it, but it looked dated, with bays for patients.
