Okay, let’s actually break this apart. First: the idea that consent cannot exist across authority lines is not unique to the church. It also exists at your therapist or doctor’s office. It also exists at your workplace. So if we say that actually people can freely consent to sex

There is a serious problem when we get to the point where we say that people under authority cannot consent. Some cases of spiritual abuse ≠ all cases are spiritual abuse It’s like the Nuremberg Trials playing out in the church. “But I was just following my pastor’s orders”
It would be trite to say “daddy issues,” but maybe not entirely wrong? She knows her dad would be considered an abuser if she admits that someone under the spiritual authority of a spiritual mentor/church leader cannot consent.

Before our church sent us out as missionaries we went to Bible college, I went to seminary, and we served as leaders in the church for five years. That is pretty much standard But, let’s send our kids to public school to be missionaries before they are even fully developed. SMH
If all Christians flee the public school system it will have no light at all. We are not called to leave the world. We are called to change it.

I’ve thought this since the Texas game. Next year is not a rebuild for the Gators. There is a to of talent on the team and any competent coach with a good staff should succeed the next few years. Plus, the lack of discipline issues speaks to the maturity of the group
@AstuteAlligator This is the take . How can we claim to be a turnkey operation if we thought there was only one coach in America that could win here ? Hire a good coach and put the NIL and staff salary behind him you were going to give Lane and you will get the same results

This is very well said. In the DR at least, I so often see well intentioned help cause more harm than good as it creates an attitude of dependency and perpetuates the idea that poverty is merely a lack of resources instead of a broken concept of stewardship and God given propose

Having standards based on biblical wisdom is not legalism. A standard not obligated in Scripture can still be the moral choice when wisdom principles are applied. Instead, legalism trusts in those standards as a source of righteousness but their presence does not equal legalism

The biggest issue is his ecclesiology. Multi-site, multi-service churches do not allow for real pastoring. A shepherd smells like his sheep because he spends time with them and knows them.
Greear says at one point that he had to speak to two congregations in the same church the Sunday after Charlie Kirk was shot. One who thought he was a Christian martyr and one who thought he was a vile racist. This what you get when you fail to disciple your people in politics.
