Incredible work from @poppyeh on this very involved story - no mean feat getting this together.
Private equity has become so involved in special education in Britain that even Bono stands to make money from it, @Telegraph can reveal. Bono is an investor in the biggest chain of private SEND schools, which charges taxpayers up to £157,000 per pupil.

We, the British public, are the eternal mugs. An industry is found wanting and the only consequence is higher bills for us. If there’s one thing we can rely upon, it’s paying for the privilege of decline. Join me in the comments on @Telegraph at 10am .

If we’re going to save the welfare state, which we must, we need to do something radical. We need to have an honest and difficult conversation about what we can afford and what we value most as a society. Join me in the comments from 10am @Telegraph .

Low-flow toilets, fewer websites and being sick less often are some of the “efficiency gains” we can apparently bank on to raise £27bn.
✍️ 'Claiming to have found more than £27bn behind the sofa, this document looks suspiciously like a get-out-of-jail-free card for the chancellor' | Writes @jamesbaxterd. 'So, where does this free money come from?' 👇.

Don't jump to conclusions – cash Isa cuts are still very much on the table. The £20k *overall* Isa allowance is safe, that much has been confirmed, but the chancellor still seems rather keen to get the "balance" between cash and equities right.

Whether Boaz wins plan B, C or Q, it doesn’t seem likely Saba will skulk away until it can wave a piece of paper declaring victory, however pyrrhic. (Plus a nod to a very impressive line-up from @lsesuAIC).

Nothing lasts forever - is this AI's Amstrad moment?.A serendipitous venture into the BBC archives yesterday sparked a thought on what DeepSeek actually means for AI. Little more than a ChatGPT clone, is there much to separate it from Amstrad's IBM clones?.

Questor has been stewarded by a raft of exceptional editors, who offered their memories of and reflections on their time with this column. Much as I loved the archives, these stories have been the most delightful part of these birthday celebrations.

I’ve also drawn out lessons learned from six decades of stock tips - you’d be surprised how little of today’s wisdom is anything new.

‘In the long run, one gets used to anything’. For Questor’s 60th Anniversary I delved into the archives and came up with a fresh appreciation of just how remarkable this column and its inimitable founding editor are.

If the mystery pension fund has done such a smart thing by investing in Bitcoin, why are they too embarrassed to admit it? Their clients are owed the truth.

If investing in the cryptocurrency is such a good idea, why are the pension trustees refusing to admit it?

In which I decide my life is too quiet. Just because you can make money from Bitcoin, doesn't mean it has any value - a point that can be argued without reference to criminality or the environment.

Widespread adoption of this ‘cryptoasset’ would be its very downfall

Not only is the hidden £2/pint surcharge dreadful behaviour from this particular pub, the attempt to palm off the decision on the council (which confirmed it has never asked the bar to do so) proves management knows it's poor form. Great work from @matildahead_.
Turns out it's true what they say in training, stories really are everywhere. My indignation at being charged £19 for two pints led to the discovery that O'Neills in Wardour Street charge £2 extra per drink after 10pm. My piece for Telegraph Money:

Your politics is making you poorer. Stop acting on your beliefs and start paying attention to what's actually happening. (As is so often the case, h/t to @PanmureLiberum's Joachim Klement for a fascinating chart).

An important detail missing from the coverage of this £50k for 52 days of work is that he will not be allowed to discuss HS2 (£74bn) or replacing Trident submarines (£41bn) due to conflicts of interest.
🔴 Labour’s newly appointed value for money tsar will be paid the equivalent of a £247,000 annual salary.
