A state that admits an asylum seeker releases him after a sex attack shares in the blood when he goes on to kill a child. The crime is his, but the guilt belongs to those who opened the gates.

IPAT stopped publishing the fees they pay to solicitors who handle asylum appeals. Now they just publish the number of cases handled by each solicitor. If you’re like John Noonan, you’re probably making 6 figures from this. One of the hidden costs of the asylum system.

Interesting. IPAT also publishes just how much in fees each of the part time members of the tribunal get in their annual report. Here are the figures for 2023, 2022 and 2020. Unfortunately, the 2021 link is dead.

Charles De Gaulle saw integration as a delusion. Arabs were Arabs, the French were French. Mixing them was like oil and vinegar. He feared a future where France would be unrecognisable, his own village renamed Colombey-les-deux-Mosquées

You owe nothing to a regime that despises you. Its collapse is your gain. When it begins to totter, don’t waste your strength holding it up. Either step aside, or better still, put your shoulder to its fall.

In Ireland, it costs about €30k just to house a refugee. Add the allowance they receive (around €2k per year) and the legal fees for processing their application, and you are probably looking at something close to €35k a year. May also be the case in the rest of Europe.

Refugees are extremely costly. With annual costs of €15,000-€22,000 per person, the bill becomes enormous when multiplied by the vast numbers taken in by European countries. I would even say these estimates are on the low end of the scale.
