My friends and I made a bet on ourselves nearly 5 years ago it has turned into something bigger and more impactful than we could have ever imagined.

everyone that visits LA:
“hey i’m in town we should hang out by the way i’m staying 25 miles away from you and i don’t have a car so you have to drive to me and i’m only free at 6pm aka peak rush hour"
really big favor to ask:
stop hiring creative people and telling them exactly what to make, and definitely stop hiring creative people to ‘do whatever you want'
hire creative people to solve problems. hire creative people to be themselves.
17 high school students dead in a school shooting in florida today. 18 school shootings have happened in 45 days of 2018
my biggest fear is that we become desensitized to this
to the kids in small towns that feel misunderstood & are surrounded by people who try to keep you small,
take risks and trust yourself. you don't need permission to be the person you want to be.
los angeles photography culture is caring more about having a contax t2 strapped around your neck at the function and an instagram feed full of flash photos of famous people that didn't even know you were taking a photo of them than actually having a thoughtful body of work
there is only one good photo for every fifty i take which is a reminder that i have to make a lot of bad things before something makes sense so just keep trying
i’ve been thinking a lot about how much our taste defines who we are.
you are literally the books you read, music you listen to, things you take photos of, experiences you have, and the stories you tell.
dreams don't come true by quitting your job, moving far away, or choosing to 'start over'
things shape up when you wake up and decide you're going to work hard and overcome the adversity in your current circumstances
I've been getting lost in black holes on the internet of homes that I'd love to be trapped in during quarantine.
Ricardo Bofill House, a renovated cement factory outside of Barcelona, Spain.
things i forget often but trying to remember:
1. it's okay to not have every answer
2. overnight success does not exist
3. i don't HAVE to do anything i don't want to do
4. i'm doing better than i think i am
being young enough to experience the influence of technology on brands and the world we live in has been so sick. the last decade will go down as one of the fastest changing in history.
we're all going to die by 30 because everybody wants to hire a graphic designer that can also take 'high quality' photographs, retouch, direct & dp video, and write copy
kanye on twitter kinda like the dude you thought was cool at first but he keeps talking and now you realize he mentally unstable and then u look around and realize you and him are the only ones left in the room unable to escape the conversation
most of the time “we’re giving you full creative control” means “we have no idea what we want just guess and whatever you bring back will probably not be good enough we just like wasting your time and destroying your self esteem”
if you’re somebody who makes stuff for a living, remind yourself that it is ok to take breaks & eat pizza or take a walk or just breathe for a little bit
making & sharing only to stay relevant is a trap that will burn you out faster than you know. your life’s work is not a race.
tyler the creator said something after his set like
'some of the hottest artists 3 years ago aren't doing shit now so if your success doesn't come quick and fast then hold onto that cuz the good shit takes time'
and that really hit different
i hate living in a time where the pressure to constantly make things and publish it to the internet is so high otherwise there is a fear of falling behind or becoming irrelevant. very toxic.
it's so crazy that this adidas ad was shot in 1971 but feels like it could have been done yesterday trends are just human nostalgia dug up from the past
i need to take a road trip or read an entire book or get lost & forget about everything for a minute because every day is starting to feel the same and i can't live like this
one day you'll die and you won't be able to take your art or your followers with you and the only thing that will be left is the impact you've made on others by loving them well so just focus on what's important
this dude donald glover is at a level where everything he makes is so good that there isn't relevant comparison or context fit for it
everything he produces forces me to question, learn, and see the world differently
this isn't even the same game anymore
the photographs from the latest campaign i did creative direction for are live at nike the grove it’s so cool to see your work irl on a large scale wow
