If anyone is interested, this Codelab and associated Github repo were my compass spent more hours than I'm willing to admit fumbling around in XCode/Android Studio, but that's all part of the *fun*.

After a weekend of tinkering I FINALLY got inline banner ads working in my @FlutterDev app. Not being able to do this in the past (due to lack of APIs) was the main reason I stopped working on my app. Now looking to launch a redesign later this month. 👀

I will never understand how it took FOUR YEARS for an ad company, Google, to offer first party ad support in Flutter. I lost all enthusiasm for my apps after finding there was no supported way to display inline ads. But I’ll come crawling back. I’m actually very excited for this.

Another thought! @chakra_ui rules. What a delightfully intuitive library. I spent the last two years building a custom component library for Berlitz and now I’ve seen this API design I wish I could start all over (I guess to be fair this didn’t exist two years ago?). LOVE IT.

I know people using Mongo for the last ten years probably had this moment already but I found the approach really refreshing better late than never.

@Firebase is so fantastic. The way that Auth and Firestore handle database authentication for you with zero config is lovely. I’m so used to having manually write APIs to request data from Dynamo/whatever, but with Firestore your documents -are- your API. Pretty cool.

Usually more of a browser than a broadcaster but figure I may as well start throwing more of my thoughts into the void. Been messing around with some app ideas over the week (yay, turns out building your own ideas is way more motivating than someone else’s) - a tiny thread.

Spent 5 hours trying to debug a WebRTC audio issue on iOS/Safari before finding out (through the deep depths of the internet) that it was because my Bluetooth headphones record at a bitrate that Apples implementation of the RTC spec doesn’t support. Will write a post soon. 😅.
