The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, fellow voting rights organizations, family, and friends are mourning the loss of Senator Tim Cullen today. He was the people’s champion here in Wisconsin and his legacy will live on through all of us. https://t.co/CAtRLDro0U

Cullen, 80, was a champion for nonpartisan maps in Wisconsin. Petak, 75, became the first legislator in state history to be recalled from office.

I had an awesome morning knocking doors with @paulscheer! If he can come join us to knock doors in between podcast recordings and TV shoots, everyone can vote!

Wisconsin, your vote will make all the difference in this election. I’m asking you to reach out to your friends, parents, siblings, neighbors, and work with them to make a plan to vote. Two days – that’s all the time we have left until Election Day. Let’s get this done!

Turns out Wisconsinites don’t like last-ditch power grabs by a gerrymandered legislature that knows its days are numbered.
Two ballot measures in Wisconsin that would have transferred power over spending decisions from the (Democratic) governor to the (Republican) legislature have both failed, by identical 58–42% margins.

59 years ago today, the #VotingRightsAct of 1965 was signed, protecting the right to vote. This year, the enforcement of Section 2 of the VRA led to more representative maps in Alabama, Louisiana, & Georgia—underscoring the need to restore the VRA in full AND pass the #JLVRAA.👇

The Voting Rights Act, championed by President Johnson, helped our nation find its way forward. It made America more fair, just, and consistent with our founding principles. Nearly 60 years since its passage, we honor that legacy. And remember that our work isn't done.

Governor DeWine called a press conference to discuss redistricting in Ohio... and it makes no sense. He is attacking proportionality as though having a map proportional to the voters will is in someway... bad? https://t.co/9V0Pnydjdd
DeWine: Proposes system similar to Iowa’s redistricting. Says proposed constitutional amendment would make Ohio voters “unhappy” because it makes proportionality “king.”

59 years ago today, hundreds of Americans marched across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama to claim their fundamental right to vote. Today, the right to vote is under assault again. It’s time to pass the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.

Woohoo!! Now let LSC staff register voters, too!
NEW: @VP’s office announces that students in the federal work study program will now be able to get paid to register people to vote, and work as poll workers.

Popular support. Hard work. Great in state leadership. Understanding it’s long term work. Wisconsin finally has better maps. Proud as the head of @DemRedistrict to have played a role bringing fairness to Wisconsin. Other states: We ain’t done yet.

The new maps, which were drawn by the state’s Democratic governor, Tony Evers, and signed into law Monday, include an almost even split between Democratic- and Republican-leaning districts.

PSA: Not all redistricting reforms are created equal. GOP lawmakers in WI have proposed legislation that would “reform” the redistricting process — but if you take a closer look — it’s a gerrymandering scheme to maximize illegitimate partisan advantages. https://t.co/qZEXEcL2p8

Alabama has a new, fairer congressional map that gives Black voters an equal opportunity to elect a candidate of their choice. This is a historic win for voting rights and democracy, and it happened thanks to the hard work of Black voters, advocates, and organizations like
