I’m gonna be very controversial and say - this is largely because of players.
Whenever EA added random events to the game or more risks (eg. Alien Abduction) players complained & EA via patches scaled them back to almost be non-existent.
It happens every time & I hate it.
when you really sit down and think about it, its hella different things to do in the sims 4. The problem is, there isnt enough autonomy to do them. S3 & S2 had more autonomy & randomness. S4 can be too predictable at times.

The Sims team need to stop listening to fans who want the game to be more like Sims 3 - it’s not designed that way.
We need to embrace loading screens & instead deliver venues like The Sims 2.
Sims 4 started so strong with its community lots & active venues. I miss them.

But it also makes me mad. The OG Sims 4 branding was SO good and I still don’t understand why they switched so that everything Expansion is a boring teal colour.
The coloured Expansions were *EVERYTHING* imo.
it took all morning but we done printed, cut, folded, & inserted every EP cover art in the old style 🙌

This is probably something they will have to backtrack on, or the game is not going to be anywhere close to the size of the Sims.
Free DLC has to be funded somehow. If it’s only being funded by base game sales, don’t expect Sims sized DLC. Probably SP sized DLC.

I’m still shocked that a paid item from the Bathroom Clutter Kit is just a downgraded version of an almost identical item from the base game, that is a small part of a larger item.

Ironically, if you installed the Sims 4 packs from DVD, you only had to authenticate it once & that was it.
Now the EA app will often stop you from playing just because you can’t log in. You should NOT need to depend on a launcher to connect to play an authenticated game.
Launchers are complete bs, this type of DRM only hurts the people who legally play the game, because they have to deal with it. The number of times the EA App refused to launch my game... ffs.

My overall opinion on this is it’s a waste of developers time.
The Sims by default already has the tools for players to customise pre-mades. No matter what they do, there’s still going to be a large percentage of players who will “fix” them. This should be the last one imo.

For those who have it in their game, don’t even TOUCH it. As annoying as it is, if no one engages with, the test will fail and they’ll remove it. They want you to click it so the test is a success and they can roll it out permanently 🙏🏻

I really miss when they had “Central Park” lots in the Sims 4. A large lot in its own little neighbourhood that felt like it connected all the other neighbourhoods.

There is literally nothing fun about clicking and pointing avatars to do something if you have 0 imagination on why you’re doing it.
Sandbox games and imagination are mutually exclusive.

It’s so weird that we have SO MUCH niche stuff in the game, but we lack some basics.
I can fly my Sims to outer space via a rocket in my backyard to collect crystals that I can cut into Gems to grow a Crystal Tree that I can use to make Jewellery, but my Sims can’t play Pool 😅
EA, Maxis, SimGurus: I am BEGGING. We need more arcade stuff. At the very least we need pool tables, smaller arcade machines and modern swatches for that fossball table. PLEASE. It's been 10 years and even TS2 and TS3 base games did better
