I released my first ever ‘Jace Mek’ release 9 years ago today. Time absolutely flies.

I absolutely love that people are giving Synplant 2 its moment. I’ve been using Synplant for almost every single song for the past 5 years and I feel like I’m barely scratching the surface with it. Can’t wait to upgrade!

Lastly, stay focused and separate the two. Leave your work at work, so that when you get to your designated creative space, you execute. Thanks for reading.

My two cents: Try to find a job that fulfills you as much as your art may fulfill you. This allows for a near perfect balance of consistent energy flow/creative direction/motivation because you’re not dreading your day job.

My current state: I currently work as a Behavioral Health Technician for a treatment center and I found that the reason why I’m able to stay motivated and focused is because I love helping people as much as I love music.

Sense of security: Pursuing art is such a risk. Jobs give you the sense of financial security. This is dangerous because at the beginning, it is difficult for art to maintain the lifestyle you want/need but a job can fulfill that. This can create lack of motivation.

Physical/Mental Exhaustion: My first couple of jobs were warehouse distribution jobs and these positions were always physically demanding and after some time, the physical exhaustion would affect my creative energy levels leaving me mentally exhausted.

Nobody talks about the true struggle of juggling a full time job + pursuing an art as a career. This has been my journey. (Thread)

Oh where do I start, Chris Lake asked me for music to be on the HOWSLA EP and didn’t have any music ready. Multiple big names have asked me to work together and I’ve choked every time because I forgot how to make music… 🙃
no one ever talks about when they fumbled the bag, but one time years ago i missed a demo submission from @discolines and he's huge now lol, lesson learned check your demo submission spreadsheets A&Rs!

Don’t lose yourself in the game, always keep it simple and remember why you started.

I began to realize that I was dependent on performing to motivate my creativity. I took some time to think about why I started working on music in the first place. Fortunately it brought me back to being 12 years old and started making music because I loved the craft.

When shows weren’t happening, I lost my drive to work on music and when I would work on music, writer’s block would hit me hard. I couldn’t finish a single song/work on music for 2 years.
