Movement is high salient, meaning BehaveAI can easily track tiny and camouflaged moving objects in complex scenes. Its semi-automated annotation workflow also means this moth-tracker took only an hour to make. Preprint: https://t.co/vurm614NOF @UniExeCornwall @TOSheaWheller

New open-source hyperspectral camera/imager (HOSI) you can 3D print for less than $450 from @jTroscianko. The HOSI system can take panoramic hyperspectral images that meet the difficult requirements of artificial light at night (ALAN) research. https://t.co/rsND5gwTdp #OpenAccess

‘Cool’ white car headlights more likely to dazzle moths, according to a new study by @FabusovaM, @KevinJGaston and @jTroscianko. 👉 https://t.co/Kg4sHBdJ13 Author Madeleine Fabusova collected the data as part of her MSci in Conservation Biology and Ecology at @UniExeCornwall.

We find that even short pulses of light impact moth flight behaviour! Particularly when the lights are blue/white like those blinding modern car headlights 🚗💡 Very exciting to see my first ever paper published! Check it out https://t.co/UqXZSafvFP!

New paper out showing how pulses of blue-white lights (such as those in modern car headlights) cause more harmful responses in moths compared to warmer coloured light pulses. https://t.co/vWBaHrDbHF

Exciting new gadget - a hyperspectral camera/imager that you can build for ~£350. It can measure radiance or reflectance, ~320-880nm, 9nm FWHM, customisable spatial resolution, enormous dynamic range, and a simple GUI for desktop or android. https://t.co/XIqcHUJid6

Well, that's paper number 2 of the PhD out. Using 3D scans, multispectral imaging and spatial image analyses we show how lapwing use local geometry and camouflage to hide their nests. Special thanks to @GWCT and @GW4plusDTP for funding this research.
