Today marks the 110th anniversary of the day HMAS AE1 was lost off the coast of New Guinea. On 14 September 1914, AE1 left Rabaul harbour to patrol Cape Gazelle. It never returned, but was found off the the Duke of York Island group on 20 December 2017.
