Ketum PBNU hobknobbs with Israeli hawks in midst of a genocide and profits from fossil fuels amidst a climate crisis, mobilising religio-political authority to peddle self-interested anti-science climate denialism. https://t.co/yLF1aF6paX

Soeharto is undoubtedly a national hero, to those who've thrived within the conditions produced by his violent counter-revolution, from the normalization of cultures of impunity to the' endless wellspring' of corruption and self-enrichment, semua diatas nama rakyat dan bangsa.

Exclusive | The Albanese government might have recognised Palestine, but it is continuing to hand taxpayer money to Israeli companies steeped in genocide, writes Bernard Keane.

Yet again, the government is handing taxpayer money to a company steeped in Palestinian blood: Elbit Systems. It's quite a contrast to Anthony Albanese's posturing on recognising Palestine.

The death of Charlie Kirk today is deeply distressing. There is no space for political violence in any democracy. My thoughts, and those of all Australians, are with his family and loved ones.

The 'infiltrator' is a common frame in Indonesia for interpreting and narrating mass expressions of dissent . I suggest that it operates to obscure the political agency of marginal political actors, many of whom were at the forefront of recent protests. https://t.co/rHhDDzN3U4

Official and critical intellectual readings of upheaval in Indonesia often converge in seeing rioting etc as due to nefarious actors. Divergence is over who these actors are. Each, arguably, fails to recognise the agency and anomie of social classes and groups outside their own

Surprise of some analysts at extent of anger among the Indonesian public arguably reflects their emphasis on 'politics' = machinations of elites, while relying on dubious surveys to judge widespread sentiment. End result, a worldview as delusional as that of elites themselves
