I still don’t understand what “winning AI” means for a country at this point. But, whatever it means, it’s better to keep China fat and happy than force them to figure out how to copy fast and effectively.
Must watch: @dee_bosa hits this in the center of the target. Our nation's recent curbs on NVidia H20s, intended to slow China AI innovation, will enhance & accelerate Chinese AI innovation. This action will create the OPPOSITE of the intent.

one weird thing i've noticed about coding with ai: it's so much harder to get and stay in flow state. vibe coding loses my vibe, coding. prompt. wait. review, prompt. wait. all the waiting inevitably ends up with checking slack/email/x/etc.

I like this idea. I’d take it a step further and REQUIRE anyone under the age of 50 to take the lump sum, deposited directly into a Roth IRA. SSA reform is one of the few places we can make a meaningful impact on our deficit.
I still don’t understand why no one is taking the social security buyout idea seriously. Offer every new retiree and anyone under the age of 75 $250K lump sum tax free. If 10M people take it, it’ll reduce the deficit by $5T over a decade.

Honest question: What does “winning AI” mean at this point?.
Geopolitically, nothing matters more than winning AI. These tariffs, as constructed, essentially guarantee that America will lose “AI” by making America the most expensive place on earth to build AI datacenters. The semiconductor exemption was irrelevant for AI. Datacenter.
