When listing all the Arabic words that mean "wine", al-Nawaji (died 1455) mentions "qahwa". This word gave us the word "coffee" in English. Coffee hadn't yet been discovered at the time of al-Nawaji. And when it was discovered, it was called by the name of "wine"! Cheers 🥂

The improvements here are NOT due to GMO though. They r primarily crossbreeding and cross pollination. None of the improvements here is a result of gene editing. PS: I am not anti GMO. Abeg.

Being in centre of national debates often makes one to look like a hardliner. I don’t even like GMOs like that, but the sheer false information, u’ll suddenly start to sound like one GMO crusader. Same on other issues, I’ll think I am Tinubu adviser.

Often pay premium for these GMOs, often take pride in buying original/foreign stuff. But when the GMO is local: whaaaaa!!! 4G, 5G, electron chips, mind control. Bill Gates. Agenda.
Nigerians woke up, filled their bellies with gmo and imported food, and started to trend "say no to gmo". What do you think you've been eating all your life? What alternatives do you have for pest control, low yield, non-arable land, weak fertilisers, and so on?.

Perhaps the most interesting part of this discussion is:.All the expensive “foreign” cereals, baby food, vegetable oil, almost all d processed foods we import are from GMOs. We value them and always buy them if we can afford them. Then suddenly, this GMO hyper sensationalisation.
The confusion about GMOs here is insane. No, GMOs don't kill crops; herbicides do. No, GMOs don't replace indigenous crops; farmers do, because when they see the insane yields GMOs provide, they tend to abandon previous breeds. No, GMOs aren't why farmers can't replant. That's.
