Still, even if just the 23% "very likelys" applied, out of 6M+ children in TX, that would be.... 1.5 million apps?

.@AustinISD lost 3k students last year, which district, local advocates say is due to charters, high prices, poor district communication and immigration fears. Enrollment dipped under 70k for first time since 90s. W/ @emilianotahui #txed #austinschools https://t.co/QYOKvpddds

ICYMI: the company selected to run Texas' $1B voucher/ESA program, @WithOdyssey_, is only four years old. How did a tech startup land such a big contract over more established rivals? #txed

"There's sometimes a resistance in my own party to talking about faith so openly," Talarico says. "That said, there are a lot of Democrats who are deeply religious, and there are a lot of Democrats for whom faith is central in their lives." #txlege

.@GregAbbott_TX is again deploying state troopers and National Guard soldiers to Austin ahead of the "No Kings" protests this weekend, which he deemed "antifa-linked demonstrations.” https://t.co/SKrEKWwV4T via @statesman

Odyssey's contract is worth $26m over 2 years, w/ optional 2yr renewal. That's about half the 5% cap legislators proposed in SB2. Odyssey scored higher on cost, proposal, and past performance than fellow CEAO finalists ClassWallet and Student First.

🧵414: That's how many days until Corpus Christi faces severe water shortages. But in September, city leaders abruptly voted to stop work on a controversial seawater desalination plant, alarmed by the plant’s ballooning cost — estimated at $1.2 billion.

Last month, at @texyouthsummit, I met some folks with a booth for @Freedom4Teachrs. A rep told me they realized that conservative teachers were staying in unions for the liability insurance. So in March, the Texas-based group rolled out an alternative — with free coverage 🧵
