I’m sorry, is the concept of color too political? Keith was no stranger to colors with a brightness value between 1 and 99. While I might not want to live in a house purely decorated with his art, it would be MUCH more tolerable compared to living in that monstrosity of a house.
i remember reading an interview with this guy where he said something along the lines of "i wanna do keith haring but less political" and it made me so mad i went and took a 2 hour walk

I know that color is political and Keith’s art was political. Doodledick could still ape Keith’s style and “apoliticize” it while still using color.

It feels like maybe he was inspired by the Pop Shop, which had, but in that case I think the black and white of the walls as probably a deliberate choice not to draw too much attention away from the things in the shop.
