A couple of months ago @KamolaAlieva shared some info about Ishonch foundation. She also published the list of members of Civil Society Advisory Committee, she did it herself. There is no any names on the foundation's website, unfortunately ( https://t.co/mMriKwfUFe).

7/7 This is not Switzerland’s money. Not the UN’s. It belongs to the people of Uzbekistan. They have the right to know how every cent is being spent. Right now, even we—the oversight council—are being left in the dark.

6/7 Over $2 million in 3 years is a huge amount. For comparison: EU grants to Uzbek CSOs are often just €300–400k for three years. The Secretariat—smaller and with fewer responsibilities—has spent 5–6 times more, with no clarity.

5/7 I was offered a meeting. But without financial docs, what would we even discuss? It's disappointing that transparency—promised from the start—is so lacking that even civil society reps don’t have full access to basic financial info.

4/7 Instead, I was told to check the UN procurement website (which doesn’t have the info I asked for). Later I was told the Secretariat doesn’t manage finances—that’s the responsibility of the Administrative Agent who signed the agreement with the Swiss government.

3/7 But they haven’t used the full budget each year. According to him, total Secretariat spending over 2022–2024 equals just 2 annual budgets. I requested financial documents to confirm this: salary breakdowns, contracts, etc. I received no answer.

Tweet 2: 2/7 Recently, I saw on the Fund’s website that Secretariat expenses in 2024 were over $2 million. Naturally, I asked where this money is going. Jonas Astrup, the Fund’s head, replied: the Steering Committee had approved a yearly Secretariat budget of ~$1.1M

How is the money stolen by Gulnara Karimova—returned from Switzerland and meant for the people of Uzbekistan—being spent? I’m a member of the Civil Society Advisory Council of the “Ishonch” Fund, which manages these assets. (1/7)

4/4 Опасность обществу точно несут не женщины. Но мужчинам куда безопаснее в очередной раз обсуждать женщин, нежели говорить, например, о токсичной маскулинности, которая исходит именно от мужчин и создаёт опасность для всех (а для женщин – особенно).
