Together with @jackie_botts, we analyzed thousands of records related to climate finance. We found that billions of dollars meant to help developing countries cope with climate change are flowing back to wealthy nations through loans, interest and work contracts ➡️@specialreports.
Heavily indebted countries face a vicious cycle: Debt payments limit their ability to invest in climate solutions, while extreme weather causes severe economic losses, often leading them to borrow more

For almost a year, I worked with @esagara @BigLocalNews, @CivilBeat's Blaze Lovell and the @nytimes digging into campaign finance contributions from government contractors in Hawaii. So fortunate to work with such a fantastic team and so happy to see the story out today! ⬇️.
After Hawaii barred government contractors from donating to political campaigns, late-night fund-raising parties showed just how completely the reform effort failed, a New York Times investigation found.
