People do the same with Beyoncé TBH. One time I innocently asked who “Julius” was and they doxxed me and called out in my mentions for a week for not knowing that’s her bodyguard. You’re not allowed to be a casual fan of someone on Stan Twitter
@iramadisonthree
This is why I don’t unfollow or block anyone that has critique for her; I like to hear perspectives from people who don’t like her (some of them anyway), and people who listen to her but in a more neutral sense. Listening to only fellow fans creates an dangerous echo chamber
@iramadisonthree
In fairness Ira I think most of the Swifties on Twitter are 14…at that age I thought people who liked the Backstreet Boys more than *NSYNC deserved literal jail
@iramadisonthree
The “extreme takes for clout” polarization of social media has depressingly removed all sense of nuance or perspective. I’ve made it my mission to describe things as “decent” and “pretty good” to spite it!
@iramadisonthree
Art is met to be critiqued and interpreted. I’d wait for the official release to avoid a fake. But you’re an equal opportunity “hater” I mean you got on here & bravely said there were several skips on cowboy carter. You give your objective opinion, some people can’t handle that.
@iramadisonthree
It’s actually disgusting and I have a big problem with the fact she lets her stans weaponize. Yeah yeah she can’t control ppl, but she’s their leader and can set a standard that condemns vile, unhealthy & strategized attacks.
@iramadisonthree
Not you defining the difference between a swiftie and a regular fan of her music so easily and clearly????? Twitter won't know what to do with this
Honestly,most of the "swifties" on Twitter are like 12… and at that age I thought people who liked the Backstreet Boys more than Westlife or *NSYNC were losers.
@iramadisonthree
Also, it’s okay if people don’t like your favorite artist/one of your favorite artists. It’s not a personal slight. I don’t even have time in my day to get bothered by these things!
@iramadisonthree
As someone who writes fic, I can't imagine thinking that loving something/someone as a fan means you don't get to criticize, question, or play with the idea. For a lot of people, fandom means there's room to question.
