You have to stop believing that life exists on the other side of whatever problem you’re in. The work is to feel the juice and vitality within an inward winter season, to feel the density and intensity of energy when things move so slowly they almost come to a standstill. This is

Most of the risky and "low self esteem" actions I've done in my life came not from self-hatred, but from a ravenous and uncontrollable curiosity

I think abandoning your devotional nature is very dangerous. The field outside devotion is full of shady characters and vices

I love the devotional aspect of human nature. We bend, we serve, we partner, we please, we pray, we give and give and give

most interesting traits imo: - absence of neurosis, anxiety, unnecessary strain - good taste and an accurate relationship to reality - self acceptance & security in love, respect, belonging - comfortable with the unknown - spontaneous - motivated by growth, not deficiency -

Girls actually love being held to standards. It’s a turn on. As long as the man is loving and gentle, and not cruel, his fierce standards will be a fire lit under you

EDs are a way to have a dialogue with the shadow world, to engage with dark energies, to have a private world to oneself. To project your desires and pains onto hollow spirits that will only separate you more and more from the human world.

EDs are not about food. They are a way to have a constant relationship with a ghost of your choosing. If you're anorexic, you dominate the ghost into submission, because it's the only thing you can control. If it's bingeing, you swaddle yourself in the ghost until you feel safe.

I understand that American culture is based upon stress, mania &innovation, but for the normal person those things are not building blocks in their life, only hindrances. We need to preserve the insanity of American strivers while giving the average person a road to relaxation

My friends who've been to Thailand tell me about the massage culture there & how there are massage places everywhere & it's very normal for a working class person to get a massage frequently. I think Americans can learn from this mindset. Bodywork doesn't need to be a luxury item

Being in the spa naked with other women feels very ancient to me. I feel ourselves back in Egypt or somewhere dunking in and out of rivers and scrubbing ourselves with organic matter and olive oil soap and watching the sun rise in the mist. Bathing is a sacred ritual

Americans need to learn the beauty of same-sex nude spaces like spas. Going to the Korean spa as a child and seeing all the shapes and sizes of different women's bodies was transformative for me. Americans sexualize nudity to an absurd degree.

America should have a stronger spa culture. We don't know how to relax. We abuse our bodies with processed food and over-strenuous exercise and pharmaceuticals. We need to learn to sit in hot pools of water naked together.
