ok i’ll be honest guys this is all i have written and i have no plot at all outlined for this so i better get started

i appreciate every single comment i get and i read them all. comments are a lot of the reason i feel encouraged to keep writing. i love fandom and i love creating, but what op is arguing does nothing but make everyone more discouraged to write AND comment at all. on both sides!

i am a fast writer and it takes me 30mins to an hour to write 1k words. it takes significantly less time to read a fic and write a comment. both of us are doing things that take up our own free time in the effort of fostering fandom & community.

there’s no equal and opposite here. this mindset is so lame. an author not replying to comments isn’t “treating readers unkindly” and the insinuation that it’s rude to not reply to comments is really annoying and entitled LMAO

this argument is so stupid. i wasn’t going to say anything but op continues to miss the point. fandom is community. author posts writing > reader engages with writing bc they enjoy contributing to community > author keeps writing because they enjoy contributing to community.

fanfic readers after reading multiple thousand words writers put hours into for free: i don’t feel safe in this space. i deserve more.
