'Small Prophets' has been an absolute joy to watch... ordinary, unfulfilled lives touched by sadness, confronting the miraculous! Poignant and touching all at once; and best of all, it looks like another series might be on the way. Brilliant!π

Just completed this year's stint on the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch. So much activity, so many species; SO good to see. π

Been watching, on Sky Arts, this gig. Takes me right back to the sixth form common room in '69, when a Cream album was often on the record player. Cream - Spoonful (Live at Royal Albert Hall 2005) https://t.co/UTcFVWrAic via @YouTube What a crackin' blues rock band they were!

I've returned, once more, to my favourite book of all time, Charles Dickens' 'The Pickwick Papers'; and as I turn the pages, on my face is the benign and perpetual smile of a contented reader. Glorious; and as an observation of humanity, ageless. π

Watched, yesterday, the animation of Michael Morpurgo's 'Kensuke's Kingdom'... and so... a grown, long in the tooth man was seen to shed a tear, or two, or three...π’Such a stirring, thought-provoking, heart-tugging film.

Whatever else can be said about the season of autumn, the sheer beauty of its polychromatism is undeniable. π

Went to one of Merlin Sheldrake's lecture tour shows on Saturday. His book 'Entangled Life' is a wondrous thing, but his educative and deeply philosophical style of presentation added real depth to the book's message ... that fungal mycelium is the supportive fabric of ALL life.

Saw, yesterday, the RSC's production of Cyrano De Bergerac at the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. A superb cast of actors and musicians delivering a wonderfully entertaining show, Adrian Lester beguiling as Cyrano - the whole an absolute joy. π

Can't imagine life without love, whisky, chocolate and HomeServe. Thanks to HomeServe, TWO disastrous water leaks in my crib have been remedied this week. Mind you, the amount paid in yearly premiums is a lot more than is spent on whisky and choc; it's right up there with love.π

Went to Australian Pink Floyd's 50th anniversary tour show at Birmingham's Symphony Hall last night. Having seen them twice before, didn't recognize any of the performers on stage last night. But the musicianship, staging and production were as superb as ever. They are BRILLIANT!

What a great watch HBO's series 'Task' has turned out to be. It's not often that the 'bad guy' excites compassion in the viewer and then a real sense of tragedy upon their demise, while the 'good guys' are riven by deep fault lines. Brilliant! Recommended viewing.

Really enjoyed Netflix's 'Black Rabbit' series, although the threat level and haplessness of the leading characters was sometimes challenging. Jude Law's portrayal of a man struggling, but constantly failing, to do the right thing, was outstanding. Highly recommended viewing.

It's strange that in memories filled with sadness can sometimes be found comfort.

I treasure my children, not least because in their slipstream I travel far and learn so much. They, for example, have just recently introduced me to Dubai style chocolate and the joy of the music of Lari Basilio. Could I ask for more? https://t.co/dfb45NnY13 via @YouTube
