Evergreen film! Watched at Alankar. Queue spilled on to Mount Road & extended beyond LIC. Few times @rakkicinemas when schools were closed due to rain. IG was assassinated on 31.10.1984 &shows were canceled. Idhayakkani song was played before the film as MGR was sick in hospital.

Last year, Vettaiyan was neither critically acclaimed nor commercially recognised. Ranjith once said Kaala is his best work. But it won’t be recognised by critics or others. Not even by most Rajini fans. Coolie which was a real disappointment, will end up TGOTY 2025.

Most of the commenters like the idea of a “comedy film.” They’re expecting a Thillu Mullu or Guru Sishyan. What they don’t realize is there are no good comedy writers (Visu or Crazy or Panju for example). The script & execution will be silly & pathetic. #SuperstarRajinikanth
IMO, #Thalaivar should not do such quickies/comedies… Unless we’re fine with decreased box office like for example #Vettaiyan Even if #Coolie didn’t do as per expectations, it easily crossed ₹500cr at BO. Only commercial action entertainers are needed. #SuperstarRajinikanth
