Adding "incognito mode" to blockchains has to happen if we want to see mainstream adoption.
Web3's data situation is worse than Web2's. Web3 should enable users to truly own their own data.
This is one of the many reasons we are building Inco.
Big tech companies selling users' data has been a constant concern since the beginning of the internet in the late 90s.

At Inco we like to think about it like this:
Web2 has confidentiality. Web3 does not. We are enabling the real Web3 where a developer gets to choose whether their application is public or confidential.
The real Web3 should be just like Web2 + permissionless and decentralized.
One of the most exciting things about FHE coming to the blockchain is the use cases it enables. Before FHE, the onchain space was limited to use cases that only worked with completely public data.
