The Leftovers REALLY makes me want to run a Smallville game that delves into some odd ideas about life, death, and trauma. I had an idea about playing in the MCU pre and post Blip with regular people that's a possibility.

Leftovers S3, E1 God. Damn. I'm keeping a week or so between episodes and waited a few months between seasons 2 and 3 because it's a show that deserves to simmer. Oddly enough, I don't want to immediately jump to the next episode. I want to live in this WTF for awhile.

In a Dread scenario, I had players tell me about NPCs who were important to them that they had to rescue. I didn't have to do much at all to have them impart a strong emotional impact on the game. Our imaginations and the tension of the jenga tower did a lot of heavy liftting

That different experience means different techniques work more powerfully here than elsewhere. Good improv doesn't tape very well because the fact that it's created in the moment is an important part of how it's experienced. Take that immediacy away and it loses something.

We don't need all the bells and whistles for the memory and enjoyability of that game to be as good as it can be. When you're an active participant in the fiction, your imagination does work it's not asked to do in other media. You have an entirely different experience.

Every time we've actually followed the Unknown Armies cabal creation (with the conspiracy board) I end up with a ton of stuff to research. None of what we came up with for this campaign is anything I would have thought we would have. It's gonna kick ass.
