BTCFi is heating up. Bitcoin scaling layers are emerging fast. Most will die — but Bitcoin will evolve into a programmable, multi-sector digital asset platform. If Bitcoin becomes fast and fully programmable, who really needs other L1s? .Founders know this. They’re no longer.

The takeaway?. L1s and L2s don’t win by building everything. They win by building the environment where others can build. Let protocols own the spotlight. Let builders take the win. Be the soil, not the fruit. You don’t grow a network by gripping tighter. You grow it by.

So, if L1s and L2s want more protocols built on them, they need to empower builders. That takes resources. Where do most of them get those resources?.They dump their own token. Sometimes quietly, through ecosystem funds and market-making deals. Sometimes publicly, through grants.

The standard builder playbook is telling. Most protocols launch on a promising new chain — where they can stand out early and build a moat. If it works, they expand. Investors may be tribal. But protocol founders aren’t. They’re building businesses, not belief systems.
