There is an alternative to the functions CHIP: thanks @cculianu . If serious need arises in the future to take off the mutability restrictions, it can be done with minimal technical debt. I think people should seriously consider this.

I was not aware of this late and relatively poorly known amendment to the loops proposal:. I hereby rescind my support for the proposal that I may have said elsewhere until this is fixed. The amendment should stand on its own instead of being sneaked in.
