Teachers at St. Luke's wisely waited until after November 1 to enter the College Counseling Office and relax on the couch. So interesting how seniors applying to college treat November 1 with more reverence than an official holiday...

These were my work shoes today. Spirit week is one of the best reasons to work at a school!

Yesterday was Friday the 13th, which is Colgate Day, and an admission rep from Colgate was visiting St. Luke's to meet with the 13 students who signed up!!!! The rep and I were so excited until 2 additional students entered the room making it 15. It was fun while it lasted!

Entering my last week of being able to wear college t-shirts to work before I need to start looking more professional. Starting the week with Rockhurst because of the shirt's no-nonsense design. Hoping Monday will be a no-nonsense kind of day…

I guess Ms. Abbott ran out of folders because instead of passing 2 folders, we passed 2 paper plates. PTPP, not PTF. It was a game of speed, knowledge, teamwork & penmanship. It got loud & rowdy & I learned interesting things I will only use on Jeopardy. I had a great day!

I am in history right now and the class got all excited when Ms. Abbott said we are going to do the PTF (pass the folder) activity at the end of class. Not sure how passing a folder will be fun but I am going to keep an open mind.

Mandarin class was so much fun and so exciting even though I, again, had no idea what was going on. My 9th-grade host translated everything for me. The hour flew by. Then I went to lunch. Kids eat way too fast so I didn't get to finish. I'm enjoying some free time in the library.

Mitch Murphy shadowed a senior taking Advanced Biology & he was able to answer a question in class. I'm in General Biology & have no idea what is going on. I am sitting here clueless and overwhelmed. Hoping Mandarin will go better but somehow I don't think that will be the case.

Shadowing a 9th grader today & decided to go all in. I'm wearing a kid's size dress code skirt I got from the lost & found. It may cut off my circulation by the end of the day. 1st class, biology, which I haven't taken since 1981 when Bucky Dent was a shortstop w/ the Yankees.

Gotta love it when your new Head of School says that watching St. Luke's football scrimmage a team from Western MA felt like she was at an SEC college football game. She was right. Great enthusiasm from the HOS and the team!

So here we go, SLS Class of 2023. The countdown to Commencement begins! 261 days will go by faster than you think. Enjoy them. Yes. That is a directive!

Feeling the pain this morning after pitching (actually rolling) what I remember to be four shutout innings during a kickball game yesterday. I have a new respect for athletes and the aging process.

Forgot to tell Vanderbilt that it was World Language Week at St. Luke’s when we agreed to host the Vandy Road Show for Fairfield County Wednesday evening. I am sending the reps the "We don't Ta-lk in English" video so they will know we take this week very, very seriously.

Saint Peter’s t-shirts feel like Cabbage Patch Dolls in 1983, the Ferrari F40 LM in 1994 and Hamilton tickets in 2015. Status. Pure status. Yes. I’m thrilled that I got one from an amazing and very involved Saint Peter’s alumnus and past parent at SLS. My new prized possession!!!

Not sure what a double espresso is but I teach last period today, so it sounded like a really good idea. I am sure the chocolate croissant will boost my metabolism. Thank you SLS Parents' Association for our special treat this morning!!!!

I've done the shot clock for SLS girls' varsity basketball team for 10+ years. Today was the 1st day an opposing player came to the scorer's table to thank the game clock, scoreboard and shot clock operators. Thank you Greenwich Country Day School GVB for being such a class act!

Why do I love where I work? Tonight was the State of the School celebration, which is as fancy as things get. I wore a dress with gym shoes (yes, I am from Chicago and that is what we call them). No one cared one bit. And I didn't feel out of place. I just felt... comfortable!

Last day for me to wear college t-shirts to work before faculty meetings begin on Monday. Fortunately, I was able to represent three different colleges today, which made coming to work on a Friday so worthwhile!

Wishing the Class of 2021 all the best as they head off to college. They've been through a lot this past year, including finding that some of their college pennants were out of stock. But that didn't stop them from celebrating their next adventure. Enjoy!!!!

Last day of my trip. Saw Rockhurst Univ in KC, which means I've seen 16 of 27 Jesuit universities in the US. Other highlights? Saw the Negro League Baseball Museum in KC & Brown v. Board of Ed Nat'l Site in Topeka. Took photo on ACT campus in Iowa City. Probably trespassed. Oops.
