Our team received a Gold Medal🏅, running in the Diagnostics track and the Model, Education and Entrepreneurship subcategories. After a year of preparation, we participated in the 20th International Synthetic Biology Competition iGEM, taking place on November 2-5 in Paris.

Here is the ScentiPD app, made to analyze the colorimetric output of our kit. After sufficient real world data has been acquired, it will enable us to distinguish between samples suggestive of Parkinson's Disease and healthy controls using Deep Learning.

Joy Milne's ability to detect Parkinson’s Disease (PD) by scent, along with the fact that the M13 bacteriophage with its elongated body and pVIII proteins on the surface kinda looks like a centipede, gave rise to our project logo and name, ScentiPD!✨

Our project "SCENTIPD" is hopefully the creation of a diagnostic kit for the detection and semi-quantification of specific VOCs from skin sebum, that are associated with Parkinson’s Disease (PD). We use the modified M13 Bacteriophage as a colorimetric biosensor.

We won the Mindspace University for Life Sciences Competition!🥇 This is a program organized and delivered by entrepreneurs-mentors and judges from Silicon Valley, Greece and Europe. It takes us closer to a gold medal and potentially founding a start-up company.
