Like female characters written by women remain targets for male directors to be "imaginative" about…and I’m not talking about any specific work or female writer here. I’m talking in general!

I dislike the male tendency to feel entitled to expand on female centric stories and relationships especially in female dominated casts, only to "draw the line" at male characters within that same genre under the guise of not understanding them.

While Dezaki hasn't addressed Girls’ Love directly (I think), his stance on BL reveals a double standard. He seems comfortable freely depicting female intimacy despite not "getting" it, yet he draws the line at male characters when faced with that same lack of understanding….

I’d say this is the classic Dezaki "double edged sword." He spends the whole series elevating these characters into tragic powerful icons, only to drop a line at some point that reminds u he’s still looking at it all through a very specific, almost detached lens. Which he admits.

Apparently, his real goal with the show was to strip away 'cute' and 'weak' stereotypes and showcase the true depth and intensity of female emotions and strength. (Him saying this but still adding some diabolical lines at the end of the show lol)
