Almost four years later, the solar PV system continues to power the barangay hall, providing more reliable and accessible energy, while also serving as a community charging station for residents.

Months after the onslaught of Super Typhoon Odette in December 2021, ICSC turned over a solar photovoltaic (PV) system to the barangay hall of San Agustin in Limasawa Island, Southern Leyte, to help the community rebuild itself.

#UrbanAct is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) through the International Climate Initiative (IKI), with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG Philippines) as its main political partner.

The #UrbanAct Project is a regional initiative supporting the transformation of cities toward low-carbon and resilient development in the Philippines, India, Thailand, China, and Indonesia.

Through peer-to-peer learning and collaboration, the workshop aims to enhance project quality, scalability, and access to #ClimateFinance for sustainable #UrbanClimateAction. The next stop will be in Antipolo City this November, where the focus will be on Sustainable mobility.

The sessions are designed to support LGUs in translating their prioritized Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs) into draft proposals aligned with climate finance facilities, while introducing frameworks for results-based design, budgeting, and co-financing.

This activity is part of a series of thematic workshops in Urban-Act pilot cities designed to equip local governments and stakeholders with the technical skills to prepare competitive, funder-ready project concept notes.
