Worth bearing in mind these figures are based only on what was recorded by staff at polling stations; they almost certainly underestimate the overall impact of voter ID. We've no idea how many were dissuaded from even trying to go and vote, who weren't recorded by staff etc.

It's the only seat where the number of people who wanted to vote, were turned away and didn't go back, is greater than the winning candidate's majority - though in other constituencies the figures were close.

With all 650 results in, overall turnout at the general election was 59.9%, down sharply from 67.3% in 2019. It's the lowest turnout at a general election since 2001, when it stood at 59.4%. It's also the second lowest turnout since the Second World War.

A second recount is under way at Inverness, Skye & West Ross-shire. Until every result has been declared, the general election - at least for us at @PA - is not over!.

We won't have a full set of all 650 election results until late this afternoon. There is a recount at Basildon South & East Thurrock that will begin at 2pm.
