As a child, Christmas happened to you. You didn’t have to do anything because the adults did the things that made you “feel Christmas”.
As an adult, you have to make Christmas happen. You have to make the sorrel & ponche a crème & black cake.
You have to make Christmas happen
Sinopharm not being accepted by Canada:
“We getting second rate vaccines” ❌
“The developed west hoarded vaccines/blocked vaccine purchases only to then “weaponize” exclusivity and shortages they created” ✅
Republic bank probably tired of me being on their necks but y’all could be great!
The biggest bank in Trinidad, second biggest in the Caribbean. Why your app make like it from 2011?!
I believe in y’all
So how come alyuh trust the scientists that say you can get COVID when vaccinated, but not those same scientists when they say get vaccinated anyway because the vaccines are doing their job?
Quickly.

I’m just gonna say it, I hate how for a multicultural society there’s this full subtext of Christianity in all government functions/events.
It’s a form of institutionalized religious discrimination. Either we eliminate it entirely from government functions or include all.
Exactly 31 days ago, Trinidad and Tobago hit its peak COVID-19 infection rate, averaging around 542 cases per day.
Today, we’re averaging around 227 cases per day.
Still a ways to go, but that is a 58% decrease.
We’re almost there T&T 🇹🇹
Anyway, if you live in:
Barataria/San Juan
Mayaro
Moruga/Tableland (Princes Town/Tableland)
Point Fortin
Pointe-A-Pierre
San Fernando West
St. Augustine

Misogyny 🤷🏾♂️
Specifically, the Madonna-Whore complex - the tendency of men to place women into mutually exclusive categories: the typical wife vs hoe separation.
It’s a form of woman-policing that most men don’t realize they do, but should work against perpetuating it.
I always tell some of my friends that if we had right to carry in Trinidad that I’d likely get killed and they always look shocked.
Every law abiding black person knows what I’m talking about.
We still deciding if racism is good or bad in Trinidad. Let’s not go down this path.
Once upon a time Trinidad didn’t have google maps navigation enabled and I was like hm this is strange so I contacted a google engineer/one of my mentors (who was also trini) and was like why and he was like oops error on our part and the next week it was enabled
I wonder how many of these countries that these vaccines would be donated to would have just preferred to buy them and receive them months ago
Feels very disingenuous to monopolize vaccine purchases and then say “we are benevolent we will donate what we blocked you from buying”
The original name of Princes Town was Savana Grande, and the name was only changed after Prince Albert and Prince George each planted a poui tree there, which apparently survives to this day.
I am going to reiterate this for the timeline
Horning is not Polyamory.
Horning is not Polygamy.
Horning is not an open relationship.
They are *fundamentally* not the same thing.
Ill come back to say:
Is not the money, and even with the crime a lot of people are willing to stay. What really drives them away is seeing incompetent people hold jobs that you’re more than for. It’s the nepotism and office politics. It’s —
“Not only is there a loss in the income that they can generate for the economy, but also the tax revenues they could have contributed are lost..."
—Dr Vaalmikki Arjoon, economist

For those confused in the qrt - it’s dehumanizing language.
You’d often see someone say white women and black females in the same conversation. Females is used pejoratively, or when bringing about a negative/neutral point.
It erases the humanity of the subject.
No bc why that bag of potstickers in PriceSmart went from 60 sumn dollars to ONE HUNDRED TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO DOLLARS in less than a year?
I ready to start picketing in front of PriceSmart
Today, we’re launching
@ThePicongParty
.
We are a small team of freelancers that want to address the
fragmentation of political and economic data in Trinidad and Tobago.
We want to make you a more informed voter, but more importantly, a more informed citizen.
I only recently realized this but is scotia is the only bank in Trinidad where I can deposit actual cash in the ATM and have it reflected in my account immediately?
...behind why our ancestors were enslaved, dragged across the ocean, beaten, killed, raped, babies heads crushed, all to provide free labor for a system that their descendants are...
*checks notes*
Still at the bottom of 🤪🤭
There’s this habit we have in Trinidad where if something doesn’t work well/doesn’t make sense — we say “only in Trinidad” and I find myself recently saying a lot “actually, in quite a lot of places lol”
In the whole FOC/Credit Card debate I haven’t seen anyone two important questions - Why in 2022 are we so cash dependent? Why all our Visa Debit Cards can’t be used for online transactions?
The reaction is never “let’s make our i institutions better” but always “let’s give up on them”
I honestly don’t know what it would take for us to get out of that mindset.
Nationalism and this unrequited love for Britain and the USA will be the death of us in the West Indies.
If you get/have at least 1 shot of a COVID-19 vaccine as of today, you are in the first 10% of people in the world to get the vaccine
If you are fully vaccinated as of/before today, you’re in the the first 5% of the world be fully vaccinated
Let that sink in
Trinidad and Tobago! 🇹🇹
We are on our way out of this! Encourage and educate your friends and family to get vaccinated!
Remember, when faced with misinformation, approach with kindness and compassion.
Don't compare our childhood v*ccines to this current one they're not the same
Okay Jan, and what exactly prompted the creation of our childhood v*ccines? QUICKLY.
About 979,300 people have to get the shot in T&T for us to achieve herd immunity.
The eligible voting adult population of T&T (July 2020) was 1,134,135.
Get vaccinated, if not for yourself, for those around you that can’t get vaccinated - to protect them.
As the EBC wraps up results and that recount,
@thepicongparty
will have the names, contact numbers, and emails for all of your MPs on our website, where you can shoot them an email or call with a simple click or tap :)
✅ Be respectful to each other.
✅ Make sure your MP does right by you.

✅ Continue to fight for the T&T you want.
✅ Let your voice be heard.
✅ Continue to educate yourself.
✅ Sanitize.
✅ Wear your mask.
Trinidad and Tobago is not nearly enough of a progressive society to facilitate, far less regulate, sex tourism.
We should focus on trying to ‘regulate’ the sex tourism that already happens within T&T, giving sex workers legal recognition, and treating them with respect.
“Who eats green beans for breakfast, is that what they do here?” - person in quarantine, talking about bodi, who came back on the repatriation flight for nationals
😊
reminder that homophobia is misogyny and they feed directly into each other

Idk if people saying to rename Piarco International after Mr Panday as a dark joke or if they genuinely mean it and at this point I’m too scared to ask
Haven't decided what to publicly call it yet, but I think that will be a team decision. But I did decide that "Project Blank TT" is gonna be the "parent" of my projects, at least internally.
Introducing Project Caigual, coming very soon.
All my besties in rships and I love this for them but now I gotta do the only sensible and rational thing and move to a different country and start a new life
@gottaluvness69
@MrSir____
It’s not an issue of test results, it’s an issue of citing your sources if you’re disseminating information that might trigger mass panic across a population of 1.3 million people.
Asking for source of information isn’t far fetched or unreasonable in this case.
But we didn’t see a rise in cases or deaths then Mr. PM.
We can address the politicization of AB’s death from many angles, but it’s irresponsible to link the vigils and gatherings (implicitly) to the current surge.
"The only country I know of in the Caribbean where in the middle of the pandemic the Opposition organised gatherings called vigils – thousands of people for a month, trying to exploit the death of Andrea Bharatt, and you are asking me how we got here?"
I'm struggling with this.
It's concerning to me that we have started expecting the functions of local government from our central government. It is even more concerning to me that people don't know that there is an ideological difference in these governance roles.
nobody:
Android Users: WE HAD THAT FEATURE SINCE 1701 CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS USED THE ANDROID GPS to SAIL to the AMERICAS catCH UP APPLE ALWAYS COPYING ANDROID LOL ISHEEP
I just saw that the math paper 2 was leaked and these people post it online and make it even wider spread and I’m like do y’all know that they’ll make the entire Caribbean rewrite it instead of whatever contained school it was leaked from? Lmaooo
This is when I’m gonna remind y’all that most of you are grown hard back adults and if you don’t start standing up to your parents and their out of touch beliefs/stances now you’re probably never going to lol
I wanted to stay so I held the strain and was lucky to have a support system that aided that. But I honestly understand why people would give up.
Trinidad’s brain drain is structural. To the point where it feels like it’s intentional. It feels like the country is pushing you out
22/41 or even the last 23/41 is not 3/5, a simple majority, required to pass basically anything in parliament lol.
The government literally cannot GET any significant legislation passed without them
