Stop asking "Is blockchain good or bad?" Ask instead: What problem is blockchain solving in that specific use case? Food safety? Works. Cross-border payments? Works. Quick speculation? Gets people robbed. The technology is neutral. The application matters.

The uncomfortable truth: blockchain doesn't care about hype or skeptics. It's being adopted in places that matter. Enterprise. Government. Supply chains. Payments. The crimes are real. The utility is real. Both things are true at the same time.

The market for blockchain enterprise solutions is $3.47 billion in 2025. Growing at 45% annually until 2030. That's real money from real companies solving real problems. Not retail speculation. The hype cycle will fade. The technology will stay.

So what's actually true about blockchain? 1. It works. Supply chains, payments, records all move faster and cheaper. 2. It's being adopted. 660M+ people, $2.36 trillion in Asia alone, institutional money coming in. 3. It's being exploited. Bad actors found it useful too.

Here's what matters though. Illicit activity is still under 1% of total blockchain transactions. $2.8 billion stolen vs. $10+ trillion in legitimate crypto volume. It's a real problem. But it's not what most people are doing.

Americans lost $10 billion to crypto scams in 2024. That's a 46x increase from 2020. The technology isn't the problem. The problem is people using it to steal from people who don't understand it. Link:

23% of stolen crypto now comes from personal wallets. Not exchanges. Your wallet. Your keys. "Wrench attacks" are up. That means criminals are physically targeting people. Kidnapping. Extortion. Violence. Link:

$2.17 billion stolen from crypto platforms in the first half of 2025 alone. That already exceeds all of 2024. The ByBit hack was $1.5 billion—the largest single cryptocurrency theft in history. State-sponsored attackers from North Korea. Link:

Enterprise blockchain is actually useful. Walmart cut food traceability from 7 days to 2.2 seconds. JPMorgan uses blockchain for cross-border payments that used to take days. Estonia secured millions of medical records on blockchain. Link:

Start with adoption. 659 million people own crypto now. That's not nothing. US saw 50% more crypto activity in the first half of 2025 vs 2024. Asia grew 69% year-over-year. India leads globally—not the US or Europe. Link:
